This is an issue that evokes mixed response as several individuals feel marital union doesn’t necessitate financial compatibility even as some feel that joint finances are necessary to achieve financial goals.

In my case ..I feel I save better post marriage

What do you Aspexians think ?

Give it to the financial savy person to handle...but do track ...the plan...and support as required...as not participating does'nt relieve you from the responsibility..of the outcome which is shared too...

Only problem...all expenses and withdrawls get tracked ..but thankfully my Indian guju grocery store owner gives me cash back ...hNe hNe ...otherway keep me alive...:)

I meant at initial stage Husband or wife...later on you need a financial planner...unless either of you can devote adequate time to monitor and act...

Still though you need to be alert I guess..

Sorry to butt in but personally I feel finances should be kept separate. 1 joint a/c should be there however. Family expenses oikhan theke cholbe. Contribution should be 50-50 in case of both working couples. Bakigulote each other ke nominee kore dewa jete pare.

Yes ..Shome...I know ...you will be a millionaire just from royalty :)

somehow the innocent dropping of names in this thread like Paris Hilton...has created a mild stir..:)

But she can very well be a digger...and even if one becomes her spouse...I beleive the lawyers will take care in the marraige contract so an subsequent divorce will leave her assests ( all kind hne hne ) untouched...

But coming back to the topic...having a common account with equitable participation shows trust and solidarity ? Is it?

Agreed ...Sir

However ..there should be enough space ..in terms of asking questions on the nature of expense ..at times ..when there is equitable partcipation in the accounts

P.S Agree with you on PH ...she could be one ..renowned gold digger ...or for that matter I could be one permanent ..slave ...hhahahahhahaa

On a non-Hilton note and staying away from exotic cities of France..

Joint account is not required to meet household expenses. The contribution can be worked out by individuals based on capacity to pay and areas ear-marked. e.g one pays house rent while other pays the electricity bills.

For investements etc. maye be a joint account maybe a system requirement e.g ECS towards a housing loan EMI. But other investements might require pooling or resources and brains, single or joint account notwithstanding.

But sharing accounts and e-mails id-s and passwords as signs of trust and love etc..... no, I don't think these are related.
